Teams wanting to gain insights of their assets are able to do so in-program with FileMaker Pro. Therefore, even in the absence of an IT personnel, teams can create a platform for sharing and managing files with ease. The solution enables them to design their app’s layout the way they want to, all without in-depth development skills.

This ensures that teams do not need to do everything twice, thereby saving time so they can focus on working on and implementing projects instead.įileMaker Pro affords users the utmost freedom of customization. FileMaker Pro supports importation of files from other sources. If the company has existing data in other solutions, that will not be a problem.

With this software, companies can create applications for use in-house from the get-go especially with a batch of ready-made templates for managing assets and other data. The learning curve is not steep, as it does not require extensive coding know-how. Its user-friendly interface allows users to quickly learn the ropes. This project aimed to extract critical data from the outdated and no longer supported legacy database while providing the CoE with an efficient means to access the data for reporting needs. Here are some of the benefits commonly associated with using FileMaker Pro:įileMaker Pro is easy to set-up and implement. At the same time, the end-user interface and reporting tool was developed using Oracle PeopleSoft. Raw data analysis, consultation, and extraction are performed first and are followed by database design and development using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. The purpose of this project was to perform extraction of the raw data in this legacy system, develop a new database to clean and house this raw data, as well as develop a newer and more efficient end-user interface for the CoE to retrieve the data. However, the database system was developed several decades ago, and software support has long since been dropped, causing the CoE’s legacy accreditation data to be at risk of being lost should the software or hardware suffer permanent failure. This accreditation data is crucial for reporting and record-keeping for the CSU Chancellor’s Office as well as the State of California. The College of Education (CoE) at the California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) developed a system to keep track of both state and national accreditation requirements using FileMaker 5, a database system.
